Evangelos Karras opened the doors to his first custom furniture and wood working shop in Athens, Greece in 1940.  His son, Nicholas Karras, took the family business to the United States in 1968 with his first shop in Valley Stream, New York.  Developing wonderful relationships with his clients while installing his custom made cabinets and furniture into their homes, Nicholas was soon requested regularly for all kinds of interior and general carpentry work.  It wasn’t long before Alpha expanded still, into all phases of design and building as a General Contractor and moved it’s home office to Garden City.  Nicholas’s son Evan, being involved in his family’s business for the whole of his life, has been leading Alpha Carpentry as a General Contractor since 2003.  Evan prides himself on the same attention to detail in design and building, as well as in client relations that has built his family’s reputation from Athens, Greece, to Valley Stream, Garden City and across Long Island.
